Obituary

Reginald Carthron, entered into his eternal rest January 3, 2024.  Feel free to the leave the family condolences.

Reginald Carthron was born on February 9, 1962, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the second of three children born to Melvia and James H. Carthron. His mother, who knew Christ at an early age, was serious about her children getting both a good secular education and learning about Christ. As a young boy, Reginald attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Adlai Stevenson grade school. At an early age he exhibited an independent spirit and was adamant about trying to do things on his own.

In 1971, Melvia and her children moved to Detroit, Michigan to be closer to her family after she and James divorced. Because of her immediate family's strong relationship with the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Reginald and his family attended Blackwell AME Zion church for many years.

Reginald attended Cerveny Middle School. He briefly attended Henry Ford High School, but later chose to obtain his GED.  He worked for a short time in the dry-cleaning industry. Reginald loved working with his hands and had the ability to fix almost anything. He worked as a handy man and a home auto mechanic for most of his life.

Reginald always had a good sense of humor and quick wit. He attracted many lifelong friends because of this quality.  He didn't aspire to having big possessions or a lot of money, but was humble, unassuming, and appreciative of what he had.

Reginald was preceded in death by his mother and father. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Bradford (Faith) and Reginald; sisters, Vanessa and L'Tonya Hubbard (Donald); brother, James (Fatoumata); aunts, Geraldine Warren and Elaine Fenderson; godmother, Mrs. Merle Ruffin; cousin, Welbon ("Tea") Carthron; beloved friend, Mrs. Pat Tillery; friends Marvin and Michelle, and a host of cousins.
