Born in Montreal Quebec, November 16, 1923, the second of three children to the union of the late Thomas Chambers and Gabrielle Hachette. From birth, her first language was French. She received her early education in the Montreal school system and attended Sir George Williams College. She was inspired by her step-mother, Dr. Juanita Chambers, a psychologist/professor.

She was united in matrimony to John Wayner and moved to Hamilton, Ontario. To this union four daughters were born, Valora, Carole, Jacqueline and Jodee. She was a pillar at Stewart Memorial Church and Superintendant of the Sunday school.

She moved to Windsor in the mid sixties and joined Tanner A.M.E. Church, in Windsor and was Superintendant of the Sunday school. She accepted an invitation to join the Hour-A-Day Study Club in 1967. The Club provided scholarships for education and worked for community betterment. Generations move forward on the shoulders of those who have come before. She understood that education held the key to progress. She always provided a positive role model. Her wisdom and understanding inspired and motivated others.

She was co-chair of the young women's committee at the 4th National Congress of Black Women, hosted by the HADSC in 1977. She represented the HADSC at the Local Council of Women of Windsor meetings for several years and attended Provincial Council of Women of Ontario and National Council of Women of Canada conferences. She was Past President and earned the HADSC Honored Life Membership. Fifty years reflects her loyalty and dedication.

She married Lawrence H. Mooney in the early seventies and moved to Detroit. She studied psychology and sociology with a focus on early childhood development, at Wayne State University, Marygrove College and Wayne County Community College. She was the Director of a private school in Michigan for several years, committed to improving educational and professional standards. Due to her love for children, she enjoyed teaching especially French.

She joined Oak Grove A.M.E. Church in 1973. She was a member of the Alter Guild, the Lay Organization and the Ujamma Ministry. She was a chaplain for one of her church ministries.
She joined the Optimist Club and always saw the best in people and the bright side of things.

Her exquisite taste in clothes, her contagious smile and her love of music and dancing were an important part of her life. She enjoyed fine dining, nature and taking pictures. She shared her adventures as she traveled the world visiting Paris, London, Africa and a pilgrimage to Japan to see the DaiGohonzon, in a Buddhist temple.

She was a peace maker, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and always sent cards thinking of others.

She was predeceased by two brothers; Joseph Chambers (Regina) and Emmanuel Chambers (Marie). She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters; Valora Taylor (Burns), Carole Wayner, Jacqueline Wayner and Jodee Atwater (Chuck); three grandchildren, Sharifa Harvey (Sajjad), Kwame Wayner and Armand Atwater; four great grandchildren, Marcel Chestra, Sajjad Abdul-Aziz, Amir Abdul-Aziz, Amari Perez-Wayner and DeAyr Chestra; brother Mao Chambers (Pauline); sister Naidu Dioh; nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
