Jerry P.
Flowers
Sep 16, 1953 — Jan 1, 2021
Jerry Phillip Flowers was born September 16, 1953, in Brundidge, Alabama, to Ms. Jonnie Pearl Flowers. He was one of seven children.
Jerry lived his early years in Brundidge, Alabama, before moving to Detroit, Michigan. After his mother passed, he decided to live with and was raised by his late uncle, L.C. Flowers and aunt, Willie P. Flowers.
Jerry met the love of his life, Regina L. Kennedy while attending Washington Trade School with her brother. He noticed her checking him out every time he visited her brother. Jerry and Regina married July 22, 1978, at the New Creation Church of Apostolic Faith in Detroit, Michigan. To this union, they had two loving and remarkable sons: Jerray A. Flowers and Anton J. Flowers. He was a loving grandfather to two grandchildren that he adored and loved spending time and money on: Jayce A. Flowers "Bud" and Mariah M. Flowers "Baby Girl."
Jerry was a wonderful, considerate and loving husband, father and PaPa. He had so many friends that he kept in touch with. He was so outgoing with people; you could hear him wisecracking in any gathering.
In 2008, Jerry retired from Chrysler Corporation after thirty years of dedicated service.
Jerry was a faithful member of Kingdom Believers Church pastored by Pastor Shedrick L. Clark Jr. Pastor Clark stated that he considered Jerry family, not just a member.
As Jerry's sister Sylvia once said, "Jerry is the glue that keeps our family together." He was a living example of a good husband, proud father, devoted grandfather, brother and friend. He and Regina not only loved each other for over forty years, they liked each other. When you saw one, you saw the other. They knew and acknowledged between each other that God had blessed them in their lives and marriage.
Jerry Phillip Flowers, age 67, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. His mother, Ms. Jonnie Pearl Flowers; one brother, Terry Thornton; and one sister, Vinceann Brown preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted wife, Regina L. Kennedy; two sons, Jerray A. (Melissa) and Anton J. Flowers; two grandchildren, Jayce A. Flowers "Bud" and Mariah M. Flowers "Baby Girl"; three god-children, Delta B. Scott, Dai A. King, and Antonio R. King II; two brothers, Michael Thornton and Ray Brown; two sisters, Anginette (Ervin) Odom and Sylvia (Jasper) Flowers; a host of nieces and nephews that loved and looked up to him.
