George Grimes
Baynes
Nov 7, 1941 — Feb 5, 2017
Southfield
GEORGE GRIMES BAYNES, named after his grandfather, George Grimes Johnson, was born to the union of Lillian A. Johnson and Ollyce Baynes on November 7, 1941.
He and his sister, Melven joined John Wesley Church when they were 4 and 6. George later attended Liberty Temple Church for a number of years until a fall enabled him to go. Every morning without fail, he watched the reverend Creflo Dollar, which provided him an enormous reservoir of moral strength and solace.
When George heard of an African Village in which the women had to travel twice a day for 5 miles to get water, he donated generously to help build a water line from that well to the village. He was also diligent in his donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
George attended Sampson Elementary, Chadsey High School and REX Vocational and Technical College. This background led him to General Motors Assembly Plant as a Foreman until his retirement.
George was united in marriage to Linda Ransom to whom four children were born; George Anthony, Jonathan, Carla and James. His two sons, George Anthony Baynes and Jonathan Baynes preceded him in death.
George was united in marriage to Judy Perry to whom twin girls were born, Marcia and Michelle Baynes.
On Sunday, February 5, 2017, at St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, the Lord whispered in his ear" Come home my good and faithful servant". His earthly assignment came to a peaceful end.
George leaves to cherish his memory and enjoy his legacy, Children; Carla Baynes Badih(Mahmoud), James, Marcia and Michelle Baynes; sister, Melven Baynes Jolley(Henry); 9 Grandchildren; Brandon, Justin, Miracle, Tyra, Christopher, Caitlyn and Olivia Baynes, Brianna and Aiyana Badih; 5 Great Grandchildren; Brandon Jr., Jayden, Jaylin and Nyla Baynes ; sister-in-law, Beverly, Linda Baynes and Judy Baynes and best friends; Robert Selby, James Graham, Zedler Hall and John William Lott ("Snoopy").
