Fredrick "Fred" Scott, Jr., was born October 21, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Fredrick and Rosa Scott. Fred peacefully departed this life and moved on to receive his heavenly reward for his labor October 16, 2019, at the age of 89.
On February 10, 1951, Fred and was united in holy matrimony to his high school sweetheart Shirley Thompson. To their union were born two sons, Tony and Kevin. To whom he was an outstanding father.
Fred accepted Christ at an early age, and became a faithful member of Oak Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church at 9 years of age. Fred served Oak Gove well through several ministries, including the Meter Men and youth development. He especially enjoyed his participation in the Men's Choir and the annual fish fry.
Fred lived a life of service and was a blessing to many. He not only provided love and guidance to his family and friends, Fred made immeasurable contributions to his community. He served as a little league baseball coach for eleven years, Cub Scout and Boy Scott leader and member of the PTA, among other pursuits. Fred was a mentor, advisor, confidante, as well as a role model and father figure for the young men in the communities in which he resided. Today many of those men credit "Mr. Scott" with having a positive and lasting influence on their lives.
Fred is a graduate of Northern High School in Detroit, Michigan where he excelled athletically earning All-City recognition. He went on to attend Wayne State University for a short time prior to serving his country as a member of the United States Army.
Fred was employed as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 38 years where he continued his passion for community service and was revered by those on his route.
Fred, the youngest of 7 children, was preceded in death by his parents and his 6 siblings; Della, Dena, James "J", Rosie, Reatha and Marion.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, two sons Tony (Kathy) and Kevin (Mable); 5 grandchildren, Tony II, Megan, Kourtney, Kori and Kennedi, and a host of other relatives and friends, as well as the many souls he touched along the way.

God Saw You Getting Tired
God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around you and whispered, "Come to me."
You didn't deserve what you went through, so he gave you rest.
God's garden must be beautiful, he only takes the best.
And when we saw you sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain.
We could not wish you back with us to suffer that again.
