Chandler Darren Gibson (affectionately known as the boy ), 21, of Lathrup Village, passed on October 8, 2021 after a long battle with Sickle Cell Anemia. He was born January 12, 2000 in Southfield, the son of Darren Gibson and Mykale (Kelly) Garrett. He attended Berkley Public Schools and graduated from Berkley High School in 2018. He was a member of Berkley High School marching band, played rugby and ran track. He was currently enrolled at Rochester University majoring in Sports Medicine though he wanted to major in Astronomy.

Chandler loved fast cars, the newest and most expensive sneakers, tattoos, video games and his family. He was serious about his family . He was in heaven when he got to spend time with his cousins Matt, Nick, and Kelsey. If he gave you a gift, you had better enjoy it, wear it or make sure he sees it. He loved traveling to exotic places and being on the water. His eyes danced and his smile was infectious. Nothing made him happier than spending time with both his parents.

Despite the challenge of having Sickle Cell Anemia, he never complained. He had several hospitalizations throughout his life. However, he didn't overcome his first and only Sickle Cell pain crisis.

Chandler is survived by his parents Darren Gibson and Mykale (Kelly) Garrett (Cornell Batie); his siblings Darius, Lauren, Darrion, and K'ya Gibson and stepbrother Sydney. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Jerry (Dude) Garrett (Pat) and Anne Garrett; and his paternal grandfather Ronnie Gibson (Jo). He is also survived by his Godbrothers T.J, Devin, Max, and Brenden Bowers and Isaiah Hawk and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
