Brenda Laverne Miller McLeod "1947"   to   "2021"

Brenda Laverne Miller McLeod, Psychotherapist at Henry Ford Health System, was born on January 10, 1947, to parents Charles Henry Miller and Mary
Winifred Byers.

Brenda passed on October 11, 2021, in William Beaumont Hospital after the onset of complications resulting from a corrective surgical procedure.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sisters Marilyn Miller Sadberry and Carolyn Miller Davis and special father-figure Randall Hall.  She is survived by and leaves to cherish her memory, ex-husband Charles R. McLeod; her lifelong best friend Bonita L. Sims (Jerome Sr.); her Godchildren Jerome Sims II and Carmen Sutherlin; several nephews, family members, and many colleagues and friends.

She was employed for 36 years by Detroit Edison Company (DTE), beginning before her graduation from Commerce High School after recognition of her exceptional typing speed and context editing skills.

On June 1, 1968, Brenda married Charles R. McLeod, who remained a loving and supportive friend throughout her life.  That friendship was characterized by an irrefutable mutual respect and admiration.

While life was less demanding, Brenda loved dancing and was the star performer at several shows presented at the Ford Auditorium.  She was an avid bowler and appeared on "TV Bowling For Dollars ".  She won many trophies as a testament to her skills.  She earned the moniker "Juice" for her fluid style and delivery of the bowling ball.

While at Detroit Edison, Brenda was a founding member and President of Maximum Resource Development Organization (MRDO), an employee group that helped African-American employees achieve upward mobility at the company. After leaving Detroit Edison, she attended Wayne State University for her undergraduate degree, two master degrees, one in Educational Psychology and the second in Counseling Arts and an Education Specialist Certificate. She is unforgettable for her exuded charisma, manifest esthetics, strong sense of pride, innate grace, and survivor skills.  Brenda fostered sustaining relationships by providing sage advice, critical thought and priceless guidance to her junior colleagues and to those she serviced professionally.

Brenda will continue to be a way forward for those that knew her and in the hearts of those that loved her.

There will be no funeral service at Brenda's request and that her ashes be scattered at the site of her grandmother's gravesite where her mother's ashes were spread.
