Bo bby Wilson passed away November 3 , 2020 in Southfield Michigan . He was born August 26 , 1937 to the late Otha M . Wilson and Magnolia Wilson in Detroit Michiga n . Bobby m et his loving , life long partner , Delores ( Lois ) at the historical Miller H i gh School . Later they were married , and from this union two children were born , Daryl and Katherine .

Bobby ' s athletic skills in Football and Basketball were developed at Miller , which was at that time " the athletic powerhouse " of t h e city . Under the guidance of his dad Otha ( Bu ddy ) Wilson , the first minority Swimming Coach at the Lucy Thurman YMCA , he earned All State status in swimming . He excelled in the program , despite tha t being a time when very fe w African Americans were exposed to the sport of swimming . Af ter high school Bob by attended Texas Southern University in Houston on a football scholarship , but that lasted only a year because he was not u p to the discipline required . He then took a job with the Public Lighting Commission as a Boiler Operator , and soon found his niche . He decided to study and do the work required to become a Stationary Steam Engineer . He then moved on to the Detroit School Board of Education , and after 42 y ea rs , retired as Chief Engineer . His love for softball drew him to the local Semi - Professional Softball team Club 500 , where he played during vacation time from his job . He became known in the league as one of the best third baseman in the Michigan area . After r etirement from the Detroit Board of Educatio n , B o bby s p ent many enjoyable times pursuing his favorite hobbies . Fishing , golf a nd reconnecting with hig h school alumni at the widely known " Hat Sh op " on Detroit ' s west side , or meeting buddies for W ednesday morning breakfast was how he spent most days

B o b by was a very unique individual . He liked to buck the system and dutifully questioned authority at every turn if it did not fit into his values. He was a VERY GOOD story teller and te nd ed to embellish or elaborate on most everything . Anyone who knew Bobby could attest to his musical genius with the sax o ph on e , which could be heard throug h out the house and beyond , much to his wife ' s dismay .

We can now imagine Bobby at peace, hanging out with old frie n ds Eddie Harris and Arthur Bro w n , having a ( stem ) and holding an audience with his infamous jokes . He would also be reviewing the fundamentals of sports with his athletic mentors Sammy Gee and legendary coach Will Robinson .

Bobby leaves to cherish his memory , wife , Delores Wilson , daughter , Veronica ( Stanley ) ; three sons , Daryl ( Kandi ) , Carlos ( jun ) , and Paris . Siblings ; Terrance ( Deborah ) , Deirdre and John . Seven grandchildren ; Sean , L akei a , Daryl Jr . , Sy d ney , Nadia , Maya and Leila . Ten great - grandchildren and one great - great grandchild . Also a host of loving nieces , nephews , cousins , and many friends .

Bobby was preceded in death by Katherine ( daughter ) , Ronald ( brother ) , Lallar ( sister ) , and Tanya ( sister ) .

The family would like to express special thanks to the wonderful staff at St John ' s A FC , for the care and love provided during Bobby ' s extensive stay . We would also like to thank the Hospice staff of Ascension Providence Hospital .
