Patsy Ann Aiken Stewart

Born: March 17, 1941
Died: November 14, 2011

On March 17, 1941 Patsy Ann Aiken, the eldest child, was born to the union of the late Jay and
Viola Aiken, in Greenville, South Carolina. Her brothers James and Phillip proceed her in death. After
moving to Michigan with her family, Patsy accepted Christ at an early age and fellowshipped with New
Calvary Baptist Church. Under the leadership of the late Rev. Joseph Thomas, she was baptized,
became a member of the choir, and played the piano and harp. At New Calvary, she met her lifelong
love Ronald Stewart, and on December 4, 1960 they were joined in Holy Matrimony. She latter
attended Calvary Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Philippians 4:13 states I can do all things through Christ that strengtheneth me. Patsy was a firm
believer. She received her formal education from the Detroit Public School System, graduating at the
age of 16 from Cass Technical High School. She attended the Detroit Nursing School earning a
Licensed Practical Nurse Certification, obtained a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education from
the University of Detroit, and Jurist Doctorate from the Detroit College of Law(Michigan State
Patsy had a passion for education acquiring several positions in the Detroit Public School System,
became a consultant for Wayne County RESA( retiring in 2003), wrote the African Studies Curriculum
for the Detroit African American Museum, became a published author writing textbooks and consultant
for Houghton-Mifflin in the Southern Florida area.
Patsy was kind, loving , and lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed reading, decorating her home,
dancing, golfing, and boating with her companion.
On November 14, 2011 Patsy was called from labor to reward leaving to cherish her memory her
loving and devoted husband Ronald, two sons Patrick(Veronica) and Rodney(Patricia), a step daughter
Danyale (Kendall) Weaver, one adopted son Ralph (Jennifer) Cannon , a loving sister Bettie Givens,
mother-in-law Willie Nell Stewart, two sister-in-laws Ava Aiken and Sharon Aiken, two brother-in-laws
Herbert (Jan) Stewart and Irvin(Princess) Stewart, thirteen grandchildren Brandt, Amber,
Ashley,Courtney, Jamie (Marie), Kameron, Kennedy, Kristopher, Laura, Darius, Shelby, Princess, and
Tonia. Two nieces Lynette Wilford and Cherese Aikin, four nephews Tony Stewart, Dain Barrow,
Nick Aiken and Marlon Aiken, and a host of family and friends including Jacquelyn Khan, who was
like a sister.Visitation: Friday, November 18, 2011 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm (the family will be present from 6pm - 7pm).

Service: Saturday, November 19, 2011 Family hour at 10:00am and Service at 11:00am at Hope United Methodist Church, 26275 Northwestern Hwy, Southfield.
